Springing on Work!

Hey all,

Before I indulge into today's amazing progress I will briefly label out what happened throughout the weekend. As I am aware of my previous blog, I was slightly behind due to my slow working speed. However, to combat this I have worked on U37A1 throughout the weekend and gotten to a point where I can safely secure the phrase "I can finish it by today!"

During this morning, we firstly did a starter which is a word search containing key terminologies and words related to the current assignment and unit. When the "Amazing Adam" sent us this in an email, I quickly used the Snipping Tool and snipped out the word search. With the pre-loaded .PNG, I copied and pasted this into Microsoft PowerPoint and went into presentation mode. There, I am able to use the 'Pen' tool where I can line out the words. Whilst searching hard and long for the keywords, I am able to interpret it and indulge into the word whilst ticking the words off. It has brought me awareness of words that I will be using in the future and I determine that this is a fun way of visualising it, thank you Adam! In the end, I managed to complete and earn the winner title; this is my first time winning something with Adam since an activity with "Jovial John". However, I did not win any award but that isn't too big of a deal.

Moving onwards, the "Amazing Adam" looked through with us at the key points of the Scheme of Learning. I used the highlighter tool and highlighted any key words we will be requiring to understand and be aware of in the new assignment we have started. One point the "Amazing Adam" greatly wanted us to be appreciative of is the usage of sound, therefore as a result he showed us a video which shows an animation correlating with the music and sound effects. You can watch and find the interesting video here. Now that the new assignment has been assigned to us, we needed to get into groups of three maximum to create a promotional advertisement for a product of our choice. Soon later, I conjoined with Matthew T and Matthew B as a three together. I really enjoyed having the idea of working with other people as we can combine our knowledge and ideas, as well as this it is more beneficial for all of us to split the work load equally.

Working together, we initially created a word document which is our brief. Similarly to the previous unit (Unit 39), I inserted around the same subheadings for the brief, e.g: client needs, target audience, format, aesthetic qualities etc. One by one, we typed the introduction and worked our way downwards. However, to understand what our product is, we skipped to the first design development process: thought showering. In a bubble template, we put the fundamental things we come across when we think of the target audience's preferences (16 - 18). Fortunately as we are of the age spectrum, we were able to do this easily and so we decided on 'Food', then we went into more detail and chose 'Burger' because of... reasons.

Throughout the design stages, we were then told it is all going to be in stop motion animation technique. Knowing this meant our original idea would not work and would need reconstructing. However, the "Amazing Adam" kindly asked "Jovial John" and he lets us and one other groups under one condition: use the feature of camera angles as this is what the unit is about. And so without further or do, we processed our work with the mindset of remember that camera angles would be used. (I am grateful we can use Adobe Flash because it can mean we can work from home during the Easter holidays and perfect the aesthetic qualities we desire, it is also more professional and I can guarantee we will learn new useful skills). Eventually, we switched to Google Docs as it is all a joint document, which means we can all type in real time. The only issue is that Matt B is further away and shouting would be an inappropriate and unprofessional way of communication. To combat this, I created an email thread specifically for us three to share work and for me to give them a to-do list (time management).

After Lunch, the "Amazing Adam" gave us another activity which is in regard to camera angles and the uses of them. With different images and different explanations, we had to use a Photoshop document and re-position them. Easily, I finished this task and saved it as an image - this will help our design log to a better degree now. Then lastly, we continued our last session of the day by continuing on any outstanding work we have remaining for the U37A1. With this time, I firstly proof-read my timeline and then begun and finished the evaluation. In this task, I can proudly admit that I have successfully become more succinct and specific, (whereas obviously not in my blog).

At the end of the day, I submitted the work to Adam and time managed the workload equally to the group just before the other group members left. I have kept on top of work and I will work on areas that I am meant to be working on. However, I will be working a tad less as I really do need some sleep! woo.

P.S: I am the blog star from Friday! =D
