Yo all.
Today was a more challenging day. The first thing I did was change seats with Alex S, with an unsure reason why. Nevertheless, this morning the blog stars were (Ben R & Alex W). We looked and came up with several points to why their posts were brilliant. We did this by looking at the extracts of their blog posts that the "Amazing Adam" sent us via Gmail and the class responded by giving positive feedback. The purpose of this was to get the class thinking about 'feedback' overall.
Afterwards, we discussed different ways of giving feedback. One method of giving feedback to someone is by using SurveyMonkey (a free online survey website). Feedback could help others improve or innovate their current idea, and learn more about their target audience. Our task was to create at least eight to ten questions about our game assets. At first, I struggled because I didn't have my files due to the fact that I had moved seats. However, I sorted the issue by dragging my files and documents across using my memory stick. (Google Drive didn't work and had failed me). The questions I came up about my game assets were closed questions, which means that I worded the questions to be have only multiple choice answers. Answers included: Strongly agree, agree, unsure, disagree, and strongly disagree. Furthermore, I added images next to the questions which were asking about a specific asset. This will allow the survey user to easily identify what the question is referring to. In the end, the task was time consuming but it has increased my overall experience on question making and my knowledge on SurveyMonkey.
Lastly, the "Amazing Adam" unexpectedly became a very informal, unprofessional and weird whilst presenting a poorly made PowerPoint presentation. At first, we did not know what was going on as it was very hard to understand his actions. However, at some point near the end of the terrible presentation, everyone understood that he was representing a bad example of a presentation. Moreover, he then became very formal, kind and confident. This characteristics he used overwhelmed his previous presentation and therefore as a result, he showed us a professional way of presenting our game assets. The "Amazing Adam" discussed with us about key aspects of good presentations by asking the class for ideas. He also did this by showing us a video of things to not do whilst presenting. Good points includes: knowledge, confidence, voice, and pace etc. Next, we moved onto creating our own presentations using either PowerPoint or Prezi about our game assets, which will be presented tomorrow. I used PowerPoint and placed all of my assets on slides. Similar assets are placed within the same slide to make things easier. I also placed them in order which makes presenting and speech easier as I can finish one point and move onto the next relative point. I then uploaded my PowerPoint to the Students Write Area to prepare for tomorrow.
Overall, the day was harder than usual. However, being put out of the comfort zone once a while is a good cause. Moreover, I will be practicing my presenting at home.
