During this morning, our first starter is regarding about "pre-production", such as what it is. In my definition, pre-production is the session where planning is taken to strong measures before the actual production. In other words and linking to our current group work with Matthew B and Matthew T, our pre-production work is about location, style, technique, content, branding, message, audience, research, market and scripting. I believe these are all important factors to consider before coming to a final design conclusion of making. After, we all re-checked the Scheme of Learning once more to understand the purpose of this task and its requirements for the criteria's - this has helped me beneficially as it has allowed me to apprehend the work furthermore and come up with new ideas for our pre-production.
Next, we cracked on with our work. Before working on my own work, I quickly helped the team by assigning them their designated tasks. For Matthew T, he continued and eventually finished the spider diagram and then expanded on it, this meant that I can finally start the mind map. He then begun to design the first scene of the house where we will use camera angles to zoom in to the entrance. On the other hand, Matthew B has been working and had finished his mood board, however there were so many improvements I ended up stopping my work to help work with him. Afterwards, he started on his story board and sketches, resultantly scanning and importing his work into the document, then giving his explanations. Conversely for me, other than helping Matthew B on his mood board, I added more to the brief now that we are aware of the term "pre-production". I have also started to create my sketches, mind map story board. Though I am going into great detail once again, it will take a while to complete.
I found useful that splitting the tasks is a lot easier, but this also means that if one person's works' standards are lower than what we expected, we have to re-do them and work together, which is good but ultimately this uses more time. Overall today has been a really big leap of progress, and also stressful too due to my perfectionism. For over tonight and tomorrow, I have been given a big list of things to do. First and foremost, I have my own sketches and story board to draw, scan, import and explain. Then next, to lessen the work load of the other two, I am doing the mind map as promised. Furthermore, Matthew T has spent a long time on the first scene's design and Matthew B was meant to design the burger overall, however he said that his Illustrator skills are not so up to point. Nor is mine, but someone has to do the job so this is added to my list. Currently, I am overwhelmed once again with the work load but it is possible to achieve the completion.
To make this fair and to give something Matthew B to do, I asked him to start searching for royalty free music/non copyrighted music that fits within our theme and to also design the logo on Thursday. Tonight and tomorrow will be another busy day and it doesn't look like I will get rest, however I hope this is worthwhile for the group's progress overall.
