As a starter, we all firstly moved onto the weekly Thursday quiz! In this quiz, we got to see and observe around three different videos about the adaptation of rotoscopes into films. During so, I had made notes to help my quiz answers. At the end of the quiz, there were four winners: Joe B, Ben C, Sami H, & Alex W - narrowed down to Joe B who won the duel monitors for the week. For the loser, it was Jordan with a total of three out of ten. Personally for me, I had a total of six which was relatively close but it was not so there yet. I had enjoyed the quiz but the videos were slightly quiet, which made it hard for me to listen to. Other than that, the questions seem to be carefully considered and I have now got a visual view of what rotoscope action films looks like.
Next, we then continued the presentation pitches we started off from yesterday. However, before so the "Amazing Adam" recapped on some presentation skills. These were: eye contact, positive body language, images cited/referenced, appropriate format/theme design, suitable font size and choice, visually appealing, strong and clear tone of voice, and confidence. One by one, throughout the presentations I had made notes regarding about the evolution of animations. These were about pioneers, developers and contemporary work in general. I had made lots of notes during the pitches and therefore I can research a little less and save time on that area. As a result of this, I have learnt a lot which cannot be measured. One thing that really made me think is about the links, from the introduction of the phenakistoscope to zoetrope to praxinoscope.
During my presentation with Jordan B, we both did read off the PowerPoint very little as we had practiced throughout Wednesday. I also attempted and successfully applied key terminologies whereas possible. At the end, according to the rubric sheet we both got a total score of 16.5 with some improvements. It said I needed to be a little louder although the loudness is more due to my throat rather than the confidence as I have plenty of that - however it can still be developed. I enjoyed this task a lot because I got the chance to work with someone else, but that is only if the person is willing to put the effort in as much as I do.
Everyone's presentation went smoothly well and I had enjoyed hearing other people showcase what they have learnt and researched. Today I've learnt a lot of things, from the historical viewpoints and life's about the people to their achievements and advancement in technology. Afterwards, I have updated my new SMART targets and they are:
Specific: I can try to improve by not looking at the board at all whilst pitching and improve my speech load with useful terminologies.
Measurable: I will know when I have done it when I next present with no need to look at the board.
Achievable: I have the internet and lots of time to revise and devise my explanations, therefore practice.
Realistic: This target is realistic and I know I can do this with patience, time and practice.
Time Bound: I believe I can achieve this after a good load of practice.
Afterwards, we finally begun the timeline, which is U37A1T2. I spoke with the "Amazing Adam" about this and I have devised a plan to work on word document, then to only paste specific and related content onto my timeline, which will look more like a poster. It is still essentially a timeline because it contains dates. I had enjoyed working independently but my time has been heavily consumed by finding examples and by being succinct. The good news is that I am getting used to this slowly.
During self study time, I spent my time efficiently on continuing to complete the current task so I can be prepared for the next task. The speed at how fast this unit is covered is really fast, which is good for progression but my work speed is relatively slow due to my perfectionism. I can deal with this by working at home too, which is expected. In the end, everything should work out fine if I keep working hard.
Overall today is another very quick and progress day, though it is tiring as I am concentrating as hard as I can on each and every units. Sometimes my speed has been put down by others as a misinterpretation of laziness when it is my work speed. Regardless, I won't rush and I will spend however much time I need to perfect my work. This is because I am dedicated to work towards the distinction level.
