Do you want to be a seaman specialist?

Do you want to be a seaman specialist? Because I don't. :)

As I walked into the classroom this morning, I saw a man in a uniform named Andy. For about an hour, he talked to us about how reality for the world of work reduces our opportunities of being games designers, he did this by opening many of our eyes a bit more and state the truth of jobs being hard to obtain - even for university graduates! Is this true?!

Furthermore, he advertised the courses of being a Navy organisation, (especially seaman specialist). Although the course sounds fun and interesting (practical and sociable), but I have no interest in living on a ship for six months without WiFi... the basic human needs of survival. That was the minor reason, the better reason is that my dream is to become many things, one of which is being a games designer. I don't just dream it, I am working hard for it by doing many other activities outside at home! On the other hand, many benefits were explained and so I do believe joining the Navy is an option.

However, he explained to us important things such as how skills and qualifications from different fields of work can help make our future university applicant look more appealing. For this, I have been preparing for over many years:

  • I have been studying another language outside of education for almost over 10 years.
  • Although I don't play for a team, I have a passion for sport and therefore play it regularly for exercise and fitness - (self-motivation and relieve of stress so I can handle heavy work load).
  • I have been drawing frequently and practicing my skills on various software's, creating a portfolio next year when I have enough to show off.
  • I have a portfolio to show my interest in the games design courses from GCSE's.
  • I am currently a head boy in college!
  • I will also add my GCSE qualifications as well as my future grades I will hopefullu achieve here at Develop.
  • I have some work experience and will have more in future.
So moving on into the day, "Zoetic Zoe" got us to draw shapes of her description. I learnt overall that you must give such clear and precise instructions for an accurate result. This was known as verbal communication. Now that I compare this to written communication, written seems easier than verbal as it is visible.

Afterwards, we continued with life and "Zoetic Zoe" talked about effective communication, which are: General, Interpersonal, and Communication. I got an overall understanding of each and read more in the text book to broaden my knowledge. The whole class continued their A1T1 and some of us including myself moved onto the second task (I finished A1T1 at home last night). Additionally, A1T2 and A1T3 is about effective communications, where we need to explain communication barriers and ways used to reduce these. Such communication barriers can be background noise, distractions, and a lack of concentration etc...

During the last part of the day in self-study, I asked any necessary questions to "Zoetic Zoe" to ease my confusion within the next task. I now understand what to do and so I laid out my PowerPoint's presentation in a logical order. I will be working on these PowerPoint's and get A1T2 and A1T3 done by Thursday. This means I will be completing the first assignment within four days of issue. Although I usually type a lot for my blog. Not much as happened today, so to increase the length of my blog I will also tell you a bit about my day in bullet points:

  • I woke up late.
  • Chris isn't in College today.
  • I brought cheese & onion rolls.
  • The class used Google Hangout.
  • I photoshopped Billy and Chris.
Enjoy the rest of the awesome day!
