I'm Lovin' It! (Serious Mode)

Hey all,

Today morning I had arrived at the centre earlier than most people. With 30 minutes spare, I used this time proactively to place the improved file documents into the submitted area for Unit 10. Alongside this, I also attempted to fill in the Scheme of Learning but had found it too difficult to distinguish which tasks were for which criterias (struggled in any other units too but the tutors always helps). After so, I went back to my documents and tidied the messy folder of my Unit 39 and placed each work into its logical location. Next, whilst I was at the submitted area folders, I dragged the folder structure for Unit 39 into the submitted area and added my name for early preparation. Then the first session of the day began.

During the first session of the day, we immediately partaken the starter activity the "Amazing Adam" had prepared for us. It was to fold a piece of paper into four separate sectors alike a banner advertisement shape. In each part of the paper, we had to draw four approximate stages of our banner animations that we imagine on the spot, and passing it around each time we finish one box. This was to help boost our creativity and get inspired by other people's ideas. I found this a great starter activity as it differs from the one yesterday but it clearly shows that the "Amazing Adam" reads our recommendations from yesterday's blogs (more drawing activities). It had helped inspired me to change my ideas slightly on my storyboard designs later on the day.

Afterwards, we continued to progress on U39A2 as today is the ultimate deadline. I went back to my sketch book and drawn even more sketches to further enhance it. I drew different types of social icons as well as completing the different types of background ideas. When I had finished this, it was very close to the end of the first session so I had used the remaining time to quickly scan my work onto the computer and explained it in my brief.

Consequently after the first break I started to draw my storyboards. On the first storyboard I usually put the most effort into it and therefore have decided to have my first storyboard as my final idea, and then expand and be more creative on the other two. I spent the whole of the second session and lunch to complete the drawings and descriptions. After lunch the "Amazing Adam" sent us an email regarding about a timescale. It is essentially a document that allows us to time manage our work load throughout the production of the animation eventually. I quickly downloaded this document and because I use time management daily at home and or at college, I was able to refer back to my final storyboard and separate it into individual workable parts for Thursday onwards. I then pasted this into the end of my brief and saved it.

Later on, I started my second storyboard and ended up finishing it within 15 minutes or so. This was because I had practiced all of the drawing designs and approximate shapes on the first storyboard and therefore I can quickly redraw draw my assets. I then too scanned this and imported it into my brief, awaiting the third and last storyboard. At the same time, I asked the "Amazing Adam" to go through and fill in the Scheme of Learning for Unit 10. After completing the document, I placed it into the submitted folder area and that is the end for Unit 10 - no more worrying needed!

All I have remaining is the third storyboard to scan, import and choose one and reason it. Eventually sometime around this evening I will proof read everything and submit it to Adam. After then, I will have completed everything so far and will be ready for whatever Thursday holds! Overall today I haven't really learnt anything as we continued our work from before. However, I did practice my drawing skills, accuracy via hand eye coordination alongside with time management skills (soft skills).

For this unit/assignment, I strongly enjoy and support the scenario for making an advertisement banner regarding about our games, this is because most of the students here (16 - 19 year olds) are into gaming as we were raised with technology. This makes it more interesting for us and puts us in the mood to expand on theories that are related to both work and to what we like (gaming). It is also a great way for our future portfolios as it relates to our games so this makes it easier for the explanations in interviews. The work load is evenly spaced out, with many tasks that involves creativity and dedication to draw and learn the software, as well as needing to express our thoughts on the brief/design logs. Everything here is perfect so I do not believe it needs altering. For a positive improvement, I actually prefer if we did work alike designing sketches/storyboards etc more often because it helps build up other skills as well as creating a sketch book! (duh).
