Brief Specifications of Banner Design.

Hello,

Today is the first day back from the half term! During the half term, I have been working constantly on any outstanding work and have gotten to the point of where my to-do list was almost all ticked off. The remaining work I have to do is update some files in the submitted area and complete the SoL for Unit 10. So during this morning, I updated any files possible (except for some as I forgot to move the files to my memory stick - will do it tomorrow).

For the starter, we firstly did the drawing activity where we folded the piece of paper twice to have eight separate boxes. In each one, we get 30 seconds to draw a word that the "Amazing Adam" tells us and after each four boxes are completed, we walked around and observed other people's final results and chose our favourite ones by placing our green card adjacent to the drawings. I got nine in total of both two rounds as most people liked the fact I expanded on the first initial thoughts which makes it unique. (The words were: yellow, professional, strong, 16 year old's, loud, going, expensive, and great). I personally found this stater a good wake up call and a fresh start to the new term. It boosted all of our creativity and it is fun overall. I wish the "Amazing Adam" would do this daily...

Next, we all looked at our own briefs to remind ourselves of our progress level (I have been working on it so I was reminded already beforehand). In addition to this, the "Amazing Adam" showed us examples of mood boards, sketches, and story boards to inspire us. Unsure about the others, it definitely inspired me to improve my mood board as a result. His reminder was a great inspiration as he showcased examples. After the completion of my mood board, I inserted this into the design log and expanded on it with reasoning, whilst at it I proof read my other design logs. It was a great first step to completion.

Afterwards, I started briefly on my sketches of my rough initial thoughts but then the lesson ended for the first break. Upon returning, the "Amazing Adam" sent a list of useful links for tutorials regarding about Adobe Flash CS6. Due to the complexity of the software, I had watched a few videos and it allowed me to learn something new. I played around a bit more, self taught myself a further bit more about the frames in the timeline. The software was incredibly hard but I believe practicing makes perfect and this had given me the idea that I could be improving on that if I manage to get everything for U39A2 complete. Other than that, it has also made me think on the aesthetic qualities for the banner designs for my sketches and storyboards as the canvas dimensions was 480 x 60.

Consequently after lunch, the "Amazing Adam" went through the last part of the assignment which was about legal and ethical considerations. As a class activity, we all looked up the definitions of legal, ethical and representation. We then considered strongly on how these affects our banner designs. During this task I had made very short notes but when we wrote about it in our assignments, I went into great detail and even gave examples. I believe the researching part has given me additional knowledge and has allowed us to work at a smooth pace. In the end, I managed to get this part done with approximately 700 words within 20 minutes.

With the remaining hours, I spent my time drawing more initial thoughts accurately and precisely on my notebook for my sketches, this includes fonts and visualizations of my banner. I also took this opportunity to help a few other students and speak to the "Amazing Adam" about universities. He also helped scan my mind map in a better quality with the scanner device (this improves my presentation and readability on my assignments overall). Lastly, during self study I planned out my to do list and used time management on my outstanding work:

  • Complete Sketches. [Done!].
  • Draw 3 separate storyboards + choose final design and reason it. [Done!]
  • Submit Unit 10/Complete Unit 10 SoL. [Done!].
  • Make changes for U39A1. [Done!].
  • Proof read U39A2. [Done!].
  • Deadline: 24/02/2015. [Achieved!]
Overall, today was intensely productive for myself and I had made immense progress. I plan to complete everything and miss no deadlines whatsoever! Great start to the term and I am indeed enjoying the unit.

P.S:
- Ben C was the blogstar.
- I planned out and prepared the learners forum meeting.
