Today was a productive Monday because we have started the third unit of the year, which is Communication & Employability Skills for IT. We also have a new tutor whom I'll nickname "Zoetic Zoe", (of or pertaining to life, Both this word and the next come from the Greek word, “Zoe,” which means life). The first thing "Zoetic Zoe" did was get a group of volunteers including myself to stand in a circle, we had to hold two different people's hands without having to hold the same person's. Afterwards, we had untangle ourselves without knowing we were being tested on our effectiveness of communication. We did this effectively with little teamwork used because we're used to playing games without communicating, heh. We were also told that it was a "disaster" last year.
Afterwards, "Zoetic Zoe" told us to go into groups of three, I joined a group of four with the people from the same table and became the leader by default. All the leaders were told to go build a Lego structure/monument, then explaining to the other team members to do replicate my design. In the end, I managed to get my group to make the same structure as I did. To do this, I used clear instructions and told them when they made a minor mistake. Furthermore, I also designed the structure not based on my own creativity, but based on what they know so the task can become easier for them. I knew that leadership requires the leader to think about others as well as themselves.
This ends the introduction for the new unit. We all completed the initial survey and it looked very promising as I am somewhat interested in this unit due to the fact that it mentions about employability skills (very beneficial for future). Moving on, "Zoetic Zoe" then discussed to us about different attributes such as specific attributes and general attributes. In summary of both attributes, specific attribute consists of job-related attributes necessary to carry out the job and the knowledge of the good working procedures the employer expects the employee to follow, such as having technical skills. On the other hand, general attributes are personal individual traits and features that may help the work in general. Common examples include: planning skills, organisational skills, time management and more...
"Zoetic Zoe" took this opportunity and told us to go into groups of twos or threes, I joined up with Adam M and each group was assigned a different general attribute. Our group got 'planning skills'. We created a word document and explained overall why it is a valuable attribute to have. Thus, I also gave examples and a picture to get maximize my point across. After a certain amount of time, each group sent their work to Zoe and we presented them individually. Pitching to the rest of the class requires confidence and that itself is another attribute. The purpose of this was to improve our attribute overall and learn the basics of each one. I found this task confidential, challenging, and fun!

In the last part of the day during self-study, I did my usual routine and created meme's of the day. I have also "planned" to complete A1T1 by tonight, as well as proof reading it therefore I am ready for tomorrow's next part, which is about effective communication. Overall, today was a hot start! :)
