The blog stars of the day today was Billy and Liam due to their level 3 detailed English and use of vocabulary. Plus, I was chosen to be Gabe's buddy for cleaning today. At the start of the day, Catherine explained to us the reasons to why we are going on a trip to NUA next Friday. Additionally, she also explained what choices are available after higher education, such as: university courses, apprenticeships, jobs and gap year. (A video explained to us in summary). We talked about the facts, advantages, and disadvantages of each path, this is to purposely get us thinking for the long run for preparation.
Next, the "Amazing Adam" listed everything we need to take into account when thinking about the aspects of game covers. The main thing we must all do is to save each pixel art into a .PSD file and .JPEG file (lossy compresson). I was particularly slow at this so I stayed in five minutes at break to catch up. Consequently, each student including myself looked up an appropriate game and stated the main features it gave. Afterwards, we moved straight onto creating our front covers and possibly the back too for extension. We took the previous task into consideration and spent almost all of the day on it. For starters, I changed the hue and saturation of my background, making it darker. After so, I chose six different types of fonts that are suitable for the appearance and narrowed it down to one, justifying why. I then made it 3D using tools and added many filters using the blending options in Photoshop. Furthermore, I used a range of tools from magic wands to transformation warp to change the aesthetics. This includes warping the enemies I imported to change the perspective of view. This task was very consuming and took up the whole day, this is because I also had to screenshot and explain my opinions and reasons behind my actions.
However, the "Amazing Adam" said I typed a bit too much for the explanation in the design log. Therefore I decided to narrow it down once I get home as I have more time. In the meantime, Gabe did almost all of the cleaning although I was his buddy so I chose to help out by putting the played cards back to its respectful packaging and returning the chairs to its positions.
In the last part of the day, I spent my self study time to sort out my confusion by asking any questions necessary. I also started to create the back cover of the game. Overall, today was a creative yet tiring day. A lot of my brain power was used but in the end, it was a perfect result. On the other hand, due to the fact that I have Wednesday off, I will be able to invest my time very wisely into getting back on track, organised and maybe even go ahead of the others considering I am a slow worker.
