Awesome Thursday! I firstly came into college, sat down and designed the logo immediately. As I worked straight away, I started to consider the logo designs for our audience and brief therefore I decided to do two individual variations.
During the start of the day, we firstly did the Thursday weekly quiz. It was a video about the history of Mickey Mouse's creation in Walt Disney Studios. I learnt that Mickey Mouse was created with a co-partner alongside Walt Disney, whom is Ub Iwerks. In addition to this, I also learnt that Mickey Mouse's original name is meant to be Mortimer Mouse and that it is a re-creation from an old rabbit character. All these changes I didn't even know has led to the success of the animation, which is something fascinating. It shows that it has come a long way since the start, especially with the usage of sound. At the end of the animation, Sami won and won the dual monitors. For the losers, it was Billy and Brandon with one point! After their dual, Brandon lost. Yes! I mean yes in a good way because I like to be a friendly rival towards him for fun.
Afterwards, we started to prepare for our presentation. Within this time (1 hour preparation), I used PowerPoint and divided the work load equally towards the group members. I did this by dividing the slides separately and making the information we present relevant to the brief, criteria and animation. Throughout the presentations, we had to write a review of their group of what went well, what did not and action steps they should take for a better result, along with some side comments. For us, we gained constructive feedback which we were able to pick apart and use them for our U37A2T2. A pitch is a communication method, a presentation. My advice for someone pitching for the first time is to prepare in advance, and practice as it makes perfect! For me, I felt like our pitch was dragged for a bit longer than usual, but in the end we still got enough information. We got some constructive but I felt like it was also some hateful criticism as people only look for the flaws rather than what was good as we really tried.
With the reviews written, we then had lunch. However, at lunch I spoke to the "Amazing Adam" about several issues of my own. After getting back on track and when the third session started, I immediately made everyone focus on their work. At the end of the day, I was able to get absolutely everything important done. The only thing I need to get done are adding the sketch and storyboard Matt T will import tomorrow. As for the music and sound, we've already decided on the main themes.
At the end of the day, I proof read the document and spoke to Catherine about my other issues. Today has been a very progressive yet stressful day. Our plan is to finish everything tomorrow, including the final design of our logo and burger. Along this, we will then do the reviews and submit it. This will then mean I can rest for the weekend as our production time scale is predicted to be within completion next week Friday.
